After
the Eulogy
Even the trees shrink back
blown by cutting winds
ignoring the spot of earth--
bare, against the frozen ground.
"Let all who enter here
abandon hope..."?
White sentinels guard
the violated soil.
"Remember him
the way he was..."
well-meaning voices say.
But to remember only this
is to deny
the wounding of the earth today.
