Lincoln in bubblegum
stuck to the Dairy Queen wall

when Honest Abe falls, there must be another

I mount my penny on the Dairy Queen wall
with a big wad of my favorite cherry-flavored

having ordered my usual

next in line for drive-up now,
I count forty-nine Lincolns in a half-foot square

these are the pennies that don’t make dollars
