cara walz, collage, montage, dada, calligraphy, arizona, kansas, found, cut-and-paste, watercolor, multimedia, mixed media
May/June 2009 Feature: Cara Walz
Artist Bio:
Cara Walz received her MFA in performance from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995 and her BFA in painting from The University of Kansas in 1990. Her work honors the fickle exigencies of process and focuses on experimental play, nature vs. culture, and narrative, and draws from a wide range of everyday influences: diagrams, illustrations, product packaging, films and literature, 3-second blips of television, Google image searches, urban landscapes and daydreams. She is fiercely devoted to her husband and son, adores her friends, and fears death.
