Dorothy Finds Her Groove
In this last month or so, in addition to starting a new regular job,
I have been presented with the opportunity to teach creative nonfiction
writing to
high school students in the writing magnet at Stivers High School
for the Arts in an adjunct position. In an effort to honor the rather
amazing talent and expectations of these students and to balance
my hours at the “regular” job, I will be taking a respite
this month from the column to “find my groove”. Look
for the return of the column in October. In the meantime, mark your
calendar for Friday, October 1st when I will
be doing a reading at The Base Gallery at 1225 Main St. in Cincinnati
at 8:00 p.m. as part of the “Mixed Metaphors Series”.
I’ll meet you back here next month with more reflections and
observations from the yellow brick road. Until then, in the words
of Anna Quindlen, “Show up, listen, and (despite everything)
try to laugh.” Peace and blessings.
